2022-23
School Of Arts, Culture And Language
Module - Semester 1

Module Organiser: Helena Miguelez-Carballeira
Overview

Yn ystod y cwrs hwn, cyflwynir chi i ddisgyblaeth Astudiaethau Cyfieithu fel sydd wedi datblygu dros y tri degawd diwethaf. Drwy astudio nifer o waith arloesol, cewch eich arwain drwy ddadleuon cyfoes am theori ac ymarfer cyfieithu, yn cynnwys y ddadl ynghlwm â chysyniadau megis 'cywerthedd', 'ystumio', 'gwahaniaethau mewn grym', ffeminist, 'hoyw', a dadleuon ôl-drefedigaethol. Rhoddir amser i astudio cyfieithu testunol a chlywedol. Caiff achosion ac enghreifftiau ymarferol, mewn amrywiaeth o ieithoedd modern, eu hystyried yng ngoleuni'r dadleuon damcaniaethol yr ymdrinnir â nhw.

Bermann, Sandra and Catherien Porter (2014) (eds) A companion to translation studies. Chichester, West Sussex: Wiley Blackwell, Gentzler, Edwin (1993) Contemporary Translation Studies Theories, London & New York: Routledge. Bassnett, Susan and Andre Lefevere (1995) Translation, History and Culture, London: Cassell. Millán, Carmen and Francesca Bartrina (eds) (2013) The Routledge handbook of translation studies. NY: Routledge. Munday, Jeremy (2001) Introducing Translation Studies: Theories and Applications, London & New York: Routledge. Venuti, Lawrence (2004) Translation Studies Reader, 2nd edition, London/New York: Routledge.

Assessment Strategy

-threshold -C- - C+: Dylai myfyrwyr ddangos dealltwriaeth boddhaol o'r testun a astudir, gan ffurfio casgliadau pendant ynghylch dilysrwydd a defnyddiau theori feirniadol yn gyffredinol.

-good -B- - B+: Bydd myfyrwyr sy'n derbyn y graddau asesu uwch wedi dadansoddi'r ffynonellau a ddarperir, gan werthuso deunydd eilaidd ar destunau penodol a'u hasesu fel maent yn ffurfio'u casgliadau argyhoeddiadol eu hunain.

-excellent -A- - A*: Er mwyn cael y graddau uchaf, bydd myfyrwyr wedi ychwanegu at y testunau a astudir yn y dosbarth gyda deunydd darllen gwreiddiol ac eilaidd ychwanegol. Byddant wedi dadansoddi a gwerthuso darlleniadau sydd eisoes yn bod o theori feirniadol a dod i'w casgliadau arloesol ac ystyriol eu hunain.

Learning Outcomes

  • Bydd myfyrwyr yn cael mwy o ymwybyddiaeth o amrywiaeth y trafodaethau mewn Astudiaethau Cyfieithu.

  • Bydd myfyrwyr yn cael profiad o enghreifftiau testunol o theorïau beirniadol penodol.

  • Bydd myfyrwyr yn gallu dadansoddi'r berthynas rhwng theorïau unigol a'r pwnc y defnyddir nhw.

  • Bydd myfyrwyr yn gallu daddansoddi defnyddiau a dilysrwydd y gwahanol theorïau o gyfieithu.
