Optional Modules in Music The student must take between 40 and 80 credits from the modules in Optional Modules. Students may take further modules all in Music or in other subjects at Level 4, up to a maximum of 40 credits. (Students do not have to take in other subjects.) Modules in other subjects are subject to the approval of the delivering department, and feasibility of timetabling.

Year 2 Modules

Music in Context The student must take 20 credits from Genres and Composers.

Final-year project preparation Students must take at least 40 credits from the remaining options, which lead to projects in the final year. However, if both Acousmatic Composition (WXK 2235) and Composition Year 2 (WXK 2233) / Cyfansoddi Blwyddyn 2 (WXC 2233) are chosen then another module from the list must also be selected. These modules are pre-requisites for taking final-year projects. Modules may be chosen in English or Welsh, but the same module may not be taken through English and Welsh (i.e. students can take: WXM 2011 or WXC 2011; WXK 2233 or WXC 2233; WXP 2241 or WXC 2241).
Solo Performance The student must take a maximum of 20 credits from the modules.

WXM-2205 Practical Musicology (20) (Semester 2)
Optional Modules in Music The student must take a minimum of 80 credits of Music modules across the year. Optional modules are subject to variation but are typically available in two-year cycles, offered in alternate years. Some optional modules are offered each year at both Levels 5 and 6: students may not take both the Level 5 and Level 6 versions of the same optional module during the course of their degree. Students may take either the Welsh or the English version of modules, but the same module may not be taken in English and Welsh.
