BA Music and Modern Languages

Year 1 Modules

Compulsory Modules Students must take 20 credits of either 'Adventures in the Creative Arts' (Music) OR 'Language and Culture: A Toolkit' (Modern Languages). You then choose 40 credits in one subject and 60 credits in the other. For Modern Languages, 40 credits are taken from language modules and if Language and Culture is not selected, you must do the 20 credit Transnational Cultures module.

Compulsory Modules Modern Languages Students must take 40 credits of language modules, by selecting a pair of language modules at the appropriate level in their chosen language. Students may pursue French or Spanish via the medium of English or Welsh. Students must choose to either take Language A and B (beginners or post-GCSE) or Language 1 (post A-level) in the chosen language, depending on their prior knowledge. Each language (French and Spanish), each medium (Welsh and English) and each level (Beginner and Intermediate) have an A module and a B module. A modules run in semester 1; B modules

Music Options The student must take 40-60 credits from the modules in Music Options, ensuring that the total number of Music credits taken adds up to 60. If the student takes Adventures in the Creative Arts, a further 40 Music credits must be chosen from this group. If the student takes Language and Culture: A Toolkit, 60 Music credits must be chosen from this group.
