Venom at the Interface Between Snakes and Environment
Professor Wolfgang Wüster Inaugural lecture, Professor in Zoology (Herpetology)
Snakebite is a condition that kills approximately 100,000 people every year and disables many more. A key challenge to the quest to improve the treatment of snakebites is the extreme variability of snake venom composition. In this lecture, I explore the drivers and mechanisms that underlie this variation, how we can improve our understanding of the biology of venom, and the implications for snakebite treatment in the future.
A buffet will be served after the lecture for all to attend.
