Incoming Students - Instructions

As a prospective exchange student, you should apply to your home university as the very first step and you may be asked to go through a selection process. If your request is successful, your university will send Bangor an official nomination confirming your participation.

After we receive this nomination, we will send you an email with details on how to register with us. The email will include a student application form, an accommodation application form and a comprehensive guidebook. You can download a copy of our current guidebook here:

Our 2017/18 documents will be available shortly.

Please note that our student application and accommodation forms will be issued directly to those who have been formally nominated by their home university.

Nomination

Our nomination deadlines are as follows:

1 June 2017 for entry in September 2017

1 October 2017 for entry in January 2018

Your Home University should formally nominate you to Bangor and you do not need to contact us directly at this point. We will require the following details from your university:

Your Email Address

Your Semester(s) of Attendance

Application

Please do not apply to Bangor online or via UCAS.

We will send you electronic application and accommodation forms together with a detailed guidebook and a map.  You will also recieve details of arrival, departure and semester dates, which you can also check here.

Our application deadlines are as follows:

16 June 2017 for entry in September 2017

31 October 2017 for entry in January 2018

You will need to send your application to us with copies of the following supporting documents:

  • Academic transcript
  • Valid passport
  • Academic letter of recommendation
  • Proof of English (Students needing a visa to enter the UK whose main language of instruction in education is not English may be required to provide proof of sufficient English. Please contact us for further details if relevant)

Receipt of Documents

If we have received your documents and forms before the relevant deadline, we will confirm receipt and process your application as soon as possible. Accepted students will be issued a formal offer letter with further instructions.

If you have applied for accommodation, you will hear directly from the Halls Office/Student Housing Office in August for semester 1 and December for semester 2.

Confirmation of Attendance

We will send you an email prior to the beginning of the semester with additional information about your stay. You will also be reminded to attend the compulsory international orientation and welcome meeting at the beginning of the semester.

Arrival & Compulsory Welcome Meetings

You are required to attend a compulsory Welcome Meeting and International Orientation at the beginning of your exchange at Bangor. These dates are confirmed on our Semester Dates & Deadlines page.

Unfortunately, if we do not receive your Application Form and supporting documents by the relevant deadline, we will assume you are no longer coming to Bangor and your placement here will be cancelled. Similarly, if we do not receive your Accommodation Form before the relevant deadline, you will not be considered for campus accommodation.
