Bangor University awards its first round of Higher Education Academy Fellowships
Congratulations to six Bangor academic staff who have been awarded Higher Education Academy Fellowships in the first round of applications to the Aberystwyth-Bangor Scheme for Recognising CPD in Teaching and Supporting Learning.
The Accreditation Panel, chaired by PVC Professor Oliver Turnbull, met on Friday 20th February and awarded Fellowship and Senior Fellowship respectively to:

Professor Morag McDonald, School of Biological Sciences – Senior Fellowship (SFHEA)
Mrs Peggy Murphy, School of Healthcare Sciences – Senior Fellowship (SFHEA)
Sian Lewis, Welsh for Adults Centre, North Wales - Senior Fellowship (SFHEA)
Dr Geraldine Crahay, School of Modern Languages – Fellowship (FHEA)
Dr Christie Margrave, School of Modern Languages – Fellowship (FHEA)
Professor Turnbull said: "This is the culmination of a great deal of activity, making us the only CPD Recognition Scheme in the UK to be run jointly between two institutions. It's terrific to see the first round of awardees, whose application forms seemed to be one round of wonderfully successful teaching innovation after another. I'm sure that we'll see many more submissions in the coming cycles – and with it a growing awareness and recognition of the incredible work going on (in many cases relatively un-noticed) across our institution. My congratulations to those from this round – Llongyfarchiadau! I look forward to seeing many more in future."
Sue Clayton, Head of Continuous Professional Development Teaching and Learning (CELT) said: “I am delighted to see these early strong successes coming through our scheme, particularly one coming through a Welsh Medium route. The CPD Recognition Scheme has been met with a great deal of positive interest since its launch in September 2014. A total of over 70 staff have attended the monthly initial inductions to the scheme, with an expected 50 more by the end of this year. I hope now that we have these trailblazers, those in the process of developing their applications will be encouraged!”
A writing workshop for those currently in the process of developing applications is being held on the 13th May – in time to support submissions for the next round: deadline Friday June 5th.
