Overview

I am a Lecturer in Forestry and deputy course director of the BSc Forestry and Woodland Management degrees at Bangor University.  I am the module organiser for Forestry and Woodland Management (DXX2010) and Forest Management Planning (DXX4530). I am orginally began training as a land agent and agricultural surveyor having gained a BSc degree in Rural Land Management from the Royal Agricultural University. I first came to Bangor in 2015 following a period working as an agricultural surveyor to pursue the MSc in Environmental Forestry. This was followed by pursuing a KESS2 funded PhD in 2017 looking at the how trees can be used to enhance ecosystem service provision in the agriculturall dominated uplands of Wales. My main research interests are the benefits of trees on farms and integration of forestry with other land uses.

Activities

2021

  • Treescape: Building resilience into the future

This session will explore the new interdisciplinary research agenda that will be needed to underpin and help deliver forest expansion and improved tree health, management and protection as key international climate policy objectives. Jointly chaired by the UK’s Future Treescapes Ambassadors, the session will bring together future leaders in treescapes research from across the natural and social sciences and from the arts and humanities research communities in order to debate what this new agenda looks like and how it can best be delivered through high impact, collaborative research. Italian researchers will showcase the approach in their own country.
