Preparing our students for the future
Work experience is a critical factor in gaining future graduate employment. We offer a variety of options to gain valuable employability skills, which includes supporting you in work placements and internships that you may wish to undertake.
All undergraduate students who begin their course in September 2019 can choose to take part in a voluntary two-week (70 hours minimum) work placement in Year 2, or to take a voluntary Work Placement Year, which is a year out between Years 2 and 3 of your degree.
You’ll be supported throughout this period by a dedicated member of staff within your academic School, and this experience will be recognized appropriately. These placements offer a great opportunity to gain valuable experience working in a field relating to your course and you will also develop your communication skills whilst organising the placement.
Those taking the voluntary two-week work placement will have the opportunity to include it in their HEAR document and those taking the voluntary year out option will have ‘with work placement’ added to their degree title.
