Overall aims and purpose

Amcan y modiwl hwn yw cyflwyno myfyrwyr i agwedd negyddol sydd, yn anffodus, wedi bodoli ar hyd y canrifoedd ac sy’n bodoli hyd heddiw mewn amryw fannau, sef gwrth-Semitiaeth: atgasedd neu ddrwgdeimlad tuag at Iddewon. Gan ddechrau â thrafodaeth am y berthynas rhwng Cristnogaeth gynnar a Iddewiaeth, byddem wedyn yn adlewyrchu ar y modd y cawsai’r ddwy grefydd eu hystyried yn ddiwylliannol, cyfreithiol a gwleidyddol. Bydd y modiwl yna’n canolbwyntio ar y modd y datblygwyd ideoleg wrth-Iddewig ymysg Cristnogion, drwy gyfeirio at ddetholiad o ddigwyddiadau ac unigolion, gan gynnwys y Croesgadau, y babaeth yn yr Oesoedd Canol, Martin Luther, yr Holocost a gwrth-Semitiaeth Gristnogol fodern. Byddir hefyd yn ystyried gwrth-Semitiaeth ymysg crefyddwyr eraill gan gynnwys y Mwslemiaid. Yn hyn o beth, ystyrir y modd y darlunnir Iddewon mewn testunau Mwslemaidd, statws Iddewon dan ddylanwad Mwslemiaid, a’r berthynas ddiddorol a chyfnewidiol gyfoes. Ystyrir yn ogystal wrth-Semitiaeth fodern mewn cylchoedd cymdeithasol, gwleidyddol a chymdeithasol, gan gynnwys y gwrthdaro rhwng Israel a Phalesteina, agwedd ‘wrth-Semitaidd’ plaid Lafur y Deyrnas Unedig, a bodolaeth Neo-Natsiaeth.

Course content

Bydd y modiwl yn archwilio amrywiaeth o feysydd megis: Perthynas y grefydd Gristnogol a’r Ymerodraeth Rufeinig, a’i dylanwad ar yr Iddewon yn y canrifoedd cynnar OC; Y Croesgadau a’u heffeithiau; Y Babaeth yn yr Oesoedd Canol; Sbaen yr Oesoedd Canol: Delweddau ac eiconograffeg wrth-Iddewig y Cristnogion a’r Mwslemiaid; Safbwynt paradocsaidd Martin Luther parthed yr Iddewon; Mudiad Seioniaeth a thwf gwrth-Semitiaeth; Yr Holocost a’r Shoah; Perthnasau cyfoes yr Iddewon a’r Cristnogion; Perthynas hanesyddol, cymdeithasol a diwylliannol Islam ac Iddewiaeth; Iddewon dan law Mwslemiaid; Y Gwrthdaro rhwng Israel a Phalesteina; Plaid Lafur Prydain a ‘Gwrth-Semitiaeth’; Neo-Natsiaeth a Gwrth-Semitiaeth; ac ymdrechion modern i wrthsefyll gwrth-Semitiaeth.

It demonstrates: • Very good structure and logically developed arguments. • Draws on material that has been sourced and assessed as a result of independent study, or in a way unique to the student. • Assertions are backed by evidence and sound reasoning. • Accuracy and presentation in an appropriate academic style.

Submitted work is of an outstanding quality and excellent in one or more of the following ways: • Has originality of exposition with the student’s own thinking being readily apparent. • Provides clear evidence of extensive and relevant independent study. • Arguments are laid down with clarity and provide the reader with successive stages of consideration to reach conclusions.

Submitted work is adequate and shows an acceptable level of competence as follows: • Generally accurate but with omissions and errors. • Assertions are made without clear supporting evidence or reasoning. • Has structure but is lacking in clarity and therefore relies on the reader to make links and assumptions. • Draws on a relatively narrow range of material.

C- to C+

Good C- to C +

Submitted work is competent throughout and occasionally distinguished by superior style, approach and choice of supporting materials. It demonstrates: • Good structure and logically developed arguments. • At least in parts draws on material that has been sourced and assessed as a result of independent study, or in a way unique to the student. • Assertions are, in the main, backed by evidence and sound reasoning. • Accuracy and presentation in an appropriate academic style.

  1. • Archwilio’r modd y mae ffactorau diwinyddol a gwleidyddol wedi dylanwadu ar y modd y cedwid y crefyddau ac yn wir ar berthynas yr Iddewon a'r Cristnogion.

  2. • Gwerthuso a dadansoddi’n feirniadol amrediad o ffynonellau cynradd ac eilaidd, gan gynnwys deunyddiau diwinyddol, datganiadau Eglwysig, ac ysgrifau cyfreithiol, gan ystyried yn benodol y modd y maent wedi dylanwadu ar berthynas yr Iddewon a’r Cristnogion.

  3. • Archwilio rôl hunaniaeth/hunaniaethau personol, cenedlaethol, a rhyngwladol mewn perthynas â’r ddeialog ryng-grefyddol gyfoes rhwng Iddewon a Christnogion.

  4. • Dangos dealltwriaeth o’r ffactorau hanesyddol a diwylliannol gwahanol sydd wedi peri newidiadau i berthnasau rhwng Iddewon a Christnogion.

  5. • Dangos dealltwriaeth o’r ffactorau hanesyddol a diwylliannol sydd wedi arwain y ffordd ar gyfer newidiadau yn y berthynas rhwng Iddewon a Christnogion.

Cynhelir 11 awr o seminarau drwy gydol rhediad y modiwl er mwyn cael digon o drafodaeth ymysg y myfyrwyr a fydd yn ategu at y broses dysgu ac addysgu. Gofynnir i fyfyrwyr ddarllen rhai testunau a pharatoi atebion i gwestiynau a osodid bob wythnos drwy gydol rhediad y modiwl.

Bydd disgwyl i fyfyrwyr ymgymryd â 167 awr o astudiaeth annibynnol. Er mwyn eu gosod ar ben ffordd, darperir rhestr ddarllen ac awgrymir pa destunau y dylid eu trin a'u dadansoddi'n wythnosol. Bydd y gwaith darllen hwn yn cyfoethogi'r broses addysgiadol, yn ategu at y darlithoedd, ac yn cyfrannu'n effeithiol i'r seminarau a gynhelir.
