Overall aims and purpose
Mae'r modiwl hwn yn edrych ar ddatblygiad y theatr Gymraeg fodern, o'i dechreuadau ar ddiwedd Oes Fictoria hyd at yr unfed ganrif ar hugain. Trwy astudio amrywiaeth o destunau dramatig, rhoddir pwyslais arbennig ar berthynas y ddrama â chymdeithas yng Nghymru. Pa ofynion arbennig sy'n codi wrth lunio a pherfformio gweithiau theatrig mewn iaith leiafrifol? Beth oedd dylanwad crefydd, gwleidyddiaeth, ffeministiaeth, rhyfel, protestiadau iaith a'r diwylliant poblogaidd ar dwf y ddrama Gymraeg hyd at y presennol? Dyna'r math o faterion a drafodir yn y modiwl hwn.
Course content
Mae hwn yn un o fodiwlau gorfodol Cymraeg, Theatr a’r Cyfryngau, ond bydd ei gynnwys hefyd yn berthnasol i amryw raglenni gradd eraill a gynigir gan Ysgol y Gymraeg gan ei fod yn cwmpasu gwaith rhai o lenorion amlycaf y Gymraeg. Byddwn yn astudio rhai o ddramâu pwysicaf a mwyaf adnabyddus Cymru, ond hefyd destunau sydd heb gael y sylw beirniadol dyledus hyd yn hyn. Astudir mudiadau fel naturiolaeth, moderniaeth a Theatr yr Abswrd, a rhoddir sylw arbennig i'r ddrama Gymraeg hyd at y presennol.
