Overall aims and purpose

Mae’r modiwl cyfrwng Cymraeg hwn yn cyflwyno myfyrwyr i gysyniadau craidd sy’n ymwneud â strwythur ieithyddol iaith, ac mae'n ddelfrydol ar gyfer myfyrwyr sydd ar gyrsiau sy'n ymwneud ag iaith, ieithyddiaeth a/neu lenyddiaeth.

Gan ddefnyddio’r iaith Gymraeg fel sail i'r drafodaeth, bydd myfyrwyr yn dysgu sut i ddisgrifio gramadeg iaith Byddwn yn canolbwyntio ar nodweddion gramadegol iaith gyfoes, gan gynnwys sut i ddisgrifio system sain iaith, trefn geiriau iaith, y ffordd y mae geiriau’n cael eu dosbarthu (rhannau ymadrodd), strwythur mewnol geiriau, a geirfa iaith. Yn dibynnu ar ddiddordebau iaith y myfyrwyr, gallwn edrych ar a dysgu am ieithoedd fel Saesneg, Ffrangeg, a/neu Sbaeneg hefyd, yn ogystal a'r Gymraeg.

Bydd myfyrwyr hefyd yn trafod a dysgu am bethau fel: y gwahaniaethau gramadegol sydd yn bodoli ar draws gwahanol ieithoedd, sut mae ieithoedd yn effeithio ar ei gilydd yn ramadegol oherwydd cydgyffwrdd mewn cymdeithas, sut mae pobl ddwyieithog yn cyfuno eu hieithoedd o fewn yr un sgwrs neu frawddeg, sut mae ieithoedd yn perthyn i'w gilydd yn hanesyddol, a sut mae modd disgrifio amrywiaeth tafodieithol mewn modd ieithyddol.

Nid oes angen cefndir ieithyddol er mwyn cymryd y modiwl. Bydd ffocws union ieithoedd y modiwl yn dibynnu ar ddiddordebau penodol y myfyrwyr sydd yn y dosbarth.

Course content

Bydd myfyrwyr yn dysgu am e.e.

  • Sut i ddosbarthu a chategoreiddio geiriau mewn iaith
  • Trefn geiriau'r Gymraeg ac ieithoedd eraill
  • Morffoleg y Gymraeg ac ieithoedd eraill (h.y. strwythur mewnol geiriau)
  • Seineg a ffonoleg y Gymraeg ac ieithoedd eraill
  • Sut i ddisgrifio amrywiaeth tafodieithol yn y Gymraeg
  • Dylanwad ieithoedd ar ei gilydd mewn cyd-destun dwyieithog, gan gynnwys cyfnewid cod (code-switching), ymyrraeth ieithyddol (linguistic interference) a benthyg geiriau.
  • Pynciau ieithyddol eraill perthnasol a diddorol fel sydd yn briodol i ddiddordeb y myfyrwyr sydd yn cymryd y modiwl.

  2. Bydd myfyrwyr yn gallu dangos gwybodaeth o ffyrdd y mae ieithoedd yn gallu dylanwadu ar ei gilydd mewn sefyllfaoedd dwyieithog.

  3. Bydd myfyrwyr yn gallu adnabod, enwi a dadansoddi nodweddion ieithyddol sylfaenol iaith mewn enghreifftiau o iaith ysgrifenedig a/neu llafar, yn enwedig yn y Gymraeg.

  4. Bydd myfyrwyr yn ennyn dealltwriaeth sylfaenol o brif nodweddion gramadegol y Gymraeg a/neu'r Saesneg a/neu Ffrangeg a/neu Sbaeneg, gan gynnwys seineg, ffonoleg, morffoleg, gramadeg a geirfa.

Subject specific skills

  • Writing & scholarly conventions - students will be able to present data, argumentation, findings and references in written form in keeping with the conventions current in language science and English language studies to an advanced standard.
  • Analysis & interpretation skills - students will be able to analyse and interpret data accurately and to draw appropriate conclusions based on the application of appropriate analytic and theoretical frameworks available in linguistics and English language studies.
  • Problem solving - students will be able to evidence sophisticated problem-solving skills in formulating problems (factual, empirical, theoretical) in precise terms, identifying key issues, and developing the confidence to address challenging problems using a variety of different approaches
