Overview
This course is only available to students whose native language is not English, who would like to improve their overall competence in communicative grammar and written English for academic purposes.
QXS1004 can be taken as a pre-course but is not a co-requisite.
This single module provides communicative academic writing and grammar practice in the context of academic writing to enable competence and confidence producing academic essays and reports.
The academic writing skills of re-writing, editing, quoting and referencing are also reinforced and the grammar & language of academic writing is also reviewed.
The module uses a communicative practice-based approach that will allow writing time and language work in each class; by the end of the course, students will have had the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills of academic writing that they can build on and review in their future writing.
