Bangor University 140th Anniversary Alumni Reunion
2024 sees the 140th anniversary of the establishment of our University and we’re delighted to invite our alumni back to Bangor to celebrate!
The ticket price includes all of the activities below. You are welcome to purchase tickets for guests who aren't alumni.
The reunion will start with an informal Pub Quiz in Bar Uno on the Ffriddoedd Student Village halls of residence site at 7pm on Friday, 13th September. You will be welcomed by the Development and Alumni Relations team to get the party started and to have your knowledge tested about your alma mater. Food and drink will be available to purchase.
On Saturday, 14th September, the programme will include:
10:00 Talks on the University today:
A Welcome and ‘State of the Nation’ from Prof. Edmund Burke, Vice-Chancellor
An Introduction to the new North Wales Medical School
The Students' Union today by Nida Ambreen, Students' Union President
Followed by tea and coffee and Bangor University's famous chocolate brownies!
11:30 The unveiling of a portrait of botanists Prof. David Thoday and Gladys Thoday in our Council Chamber
From 11:30 - 14:00 The opportunity for you to visit your old Schools and departments and meet current staff and students and view our displays of alumni memories and the University’s Archives and Special Collections 140th anniversary exhibition
11:45 Visit Treborth Botanic Gardens - return transport from Main University Building provided (£4 donation to the National Garden Scheme Open Day payable on arrival). Coach to return to Bangor University at 13:30.
14:00 A presentation on the history of Bangor University and its key locations over the years, led by Gari Wyn, alumnus, local historian and businessman
15:00 A historical tour around the Main University Building
19:00 Reunion dinner welcome drinks in the Main University Building
19:30 Reunion dinner and entertainment, Prichard-Jones Hall and Shankland Reading Room
A three-course reunion dinner will be held in the beautiful Prichard-Jones Hall or, for a very limited number, in the magnificent Shankland Reading Room of the Main University library.
Tickets £70 per person (Full programme, with reunion dinner served in Prichard-Jones Hall)
Tickets £85 per person (Full programme, with reunion dinner served in Shankland Reading Room, Main University Library)
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation has been held for attendees of the reunion at the University’s Management Centre and Ffriddoedd Site halls of residence.
Management Centre
The University’s Management Centre is 4 Star Accommodation on College Road, opposite the Main University Building.
A variety of rooms are available, including doubles, singles and twin rooms, all en-suite with complimentary Wi-Fi, tea and coffee making facilities, digital flat screen televisions and ample car parking spaces available.

Halls of Residence
