Film and media students win Royal Television Society Award

Bangor University film and media students have won a prestigious Royal Television Society Wales Award at a ceremony in Cardiff.
Tape 15, a horror short, won in the Student Entertainment and Comedy Drama category. This marks the 17th win for Tape 15, which has been screened at international film festivals. The film was made by Danny Redondo San Jose, Adele Zogota, Evie Pattison, Madalin Mathewson and Rhys Green.
Another student film, a comedy short, Down N’ Out, created by Cameron Jones, Kieran Samuel, Chris Collings, Lucas Sheridan and Isaac Sheridan, was also nominated in the same category.
In reflecting on the experience of attending the award ceremony, Adele Zogota from the Tape 15 production team said, “It was surreal to be in the same room with these industry professionals, to speak to them, and win an award at the same ceremony. I still can’t believe it happened, and it made me even more motivated. Winning an RTS award for a 2nd year Uni project, made me realise that maybe breaking into the industry isn’t as hard as it sounded at first.”
Both films were made in the module Short Film Production, led by Stephanie Steventon, Lecturer in Film and Media Production, who was very proud of her students’ success. She commented, “This win highlights the creativity and skill of our students and reflects the high standard of films produced within the Short Film Production module. Both nominations are a testament to the students' hard work, and I am incredibly proud of their achievement. The module is designed to teach students how to take an idea into production, create a film, and distribute and market it. This nomination and win truly reflect the ethos that films made in Short Film Production are created to reach an audience and find success beyond the University.”
Congratulations to all involved, and we look forward to seeing more of their upcoming films and supporting their future careers in the creative industries! Keep an eye out for the End of Year Showcase announcement to see more student short films during graduation.
