Module BNC-2002:
Esblygiad a Geneteg

Genynnau, Datblygiad ac Esblygiad 2024-25
BNC-2002
2024-25
School of Environmental & Natural Sciences
Module - Semester 1
20 credits
Module Organiser: Stella Farrar
Overview

Nod y modiwl 20 credyd, semester 1 hwn yw cyflwyno myfyrwyr i gysyniadau allweddol mewn bioleg esblygiadol yr 21ain ganrif.

Mae rhan gyntaf y modiwl yn canolbwyntio ar gyfres o ymarferion labordy a chyfrifiadurol sy'n seiliedig ar broblemau, lle bydd myfyrwyr yn cymhwyso technegau codau bar DNA i adnabod rhywogaethau.

Cyflwynir ail ran y modiwl gan dri aelod o staff, a bydd yn canolbwyntio ar:

i) datblygiad theori esblygiadol, twf bioleg esblygiadol-ddatblygiadol, a dadl ddiweddar ynghylch yr angen am "Synthesis Esblygiadol Estynedig"

ii) paleogenomeg - astudio genomau hynafol.

iii) marcwyr genetig, technegau mapio genetig, a'u cymhwysiad i fridio detholus o blanhigion ac anifeiliaid.

Bydd y modiwl yn cynnwys:

Sesiynau ymarferol: 1. Amlinelliad biowybodus o rywogaethau 2. Detholiad naturiol mewn poblogaethau pryfed ffrwythau 3. Esblygiad ymwrthedd gwrthfiotig mewn bacteria

Sesiynau darlithio: 1. Esblygiad a geneteg yn y 19eg ganrif (y "Synthesis Modern") 2. Bioleg esblygiadol-ddatblygiadol (Evo-Devo) 3. A oes angen "synthesis esblygiadol estynedig" arnom? 4. Paleogenomeg. 5. Marcwyr genetig, mapio cysylltedd a dadansoddiad QTL.

Assessment Strategy

Seilir yr asesu ar gynllun marcio categorïaidd Prifysgol Bangor.

-Trothwy - (D- i D+) Gwybodaeth sylfaenol yn deillio o'r darlithoedd a'r sesiynau ymarferol, ond heb unrhyw dystiolaeth o allu i gyfuno'r wybodaeth sylfaenol hon yn feirniadol.

-Da- (C- i C+) Gwybodaeth yn seiliedig yn bennaf ar ddarlithoedd a sesiynau ymarferol. Peth tystiolaeth o ddarllen o leiaf peth o'r llenyddiaeth benodedig y tu allan i'r darlithoedd. Tystiolaeth gyfyngedig o ddealltwriaeth a gallu i werthuso'n feirniadol a chyfosod yr amrywiol linynnau gwybodaeth.

-Da Iawn - (B- i B+) Gwybodaeth yn seiliedig ar ddarlithoedd a sesiynau ymarferol ac, am farciau ar ben uchaf y raddfa, gyda thystiolaeth glir o ddefnyddio adnoddau ychwanegol y tu allan i'r darlithoedd. Mae'r myfyriwr yn deall rhai o'r hanfodion ac yn dangos peth gallu i werthuso'n feirniadol a chyfosod yr amrywiol linynnau gwybodaeth.

-Ardderchog - (A- i A*) Mae gwybodaeth yn ymestyn yn fawr ar ddeunydd dosbarth ac yn dangos tystiolaeth helaeth o ddarllen ychwanegol. Mae'r myfyriwr yn deall yr hanfodion yn glir ac yn dangos gallu i werthuso'n feirniadol a chyfosod amrywiol linynnau gwybodaeth.

Learning Outcomes

  • Gallu esbonio sut y gellir defnyddio offer biowybodeg cyfoes i amffinio rhywogaethau ac ymchwilio i amrywiadau mewnrywogaethol o safbwynt esblygiadol.

  • Gallu integreiddio gwybodaeth a gafwyd o wahanol ffynonellau, a defnyddio dull datrys problemau pan gyflwynir senario damcaniaethol iddi.

  • Gwerthfawrogi'r gwahanol fathau o farciwr genetig, y dechnoleg sydd ynghlwm wrth eu defnyddio, a'u defnyddioldeb posibl mewn geneteg poblogaeth ac ecolegol, tacsonomeg, afiechyd ac esblygiad.

  • Meddu ar ddealltwriaeth glir o egwyddorion esblygiad trwy ddethol naturiol a rhai damcaniaethau sylfaenol mewn geneteg poblogaeth, yn ogystal â gwerthfawrogiad o'r dadleuon cyfredol mewn theori esblygiadol a rôl datblygiad embryonig mewn newid morffolegol.
