Independent research programme will evaluate the Welsh Medium Education Strategy
A research team that includes three lecturers from the School of Education has won a £275,000 tender from the Welsh Government towards an evaluation of the initial development of the Welsh Medium Education Strategy launched in April 2010.
Led by research and consultancy service Arad, the project will benefit from the expertise of Dr Gwyn Lewis, Dr Enlli Thomas and Mr Bryn Jones, who were previously part of the Bilingualism Centre’s innovative research and are currently undertaking further research into language and education in the Welsh context.
This latest appraisal will continue until 2015, and will involve a variety of research methodologies, including discussions with educators and making observations at schools throughout Wales. Ultimately, the findings will feed into the government’s policies and will influence purposeful changes to education in Wales.
