Professor Bernardo Batiz-Lazo attends PayTech 2016
Professor Bernardo Batiz-Lazo, Professor of Business History and Bank Management, recently presented a paper at the PayTech 2016 conference at Warwick Business School.
Sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Mastercard and Capco, ‘PayTech 2016: Technologies of Exchange in a Digital Economy’ united individuals from both academia and industry for a lively debate on current and emerging issues in the field of payments.
Professor Batiz-Lazo presented his research on the origins of the concept of the ‘cashless society’, and offered a taster into his forthcoming book on payments, which will be published by Palgrave over the summer.
“I could have hardly come up with a better line-up of speakers”, commented Professor Batiz-Lazo. “Besides excellent networking and first class debate, I also had opportunities to discuss future sources of external funding and to garner industry support for the fieldwork of my doctoral students.”
