Technology is changing what it means to be human. But are we still in control?

From artificial intelligence and human enhancement to surveillance, virtual relationships and the possibility of digital immortality, new technologies are forcing us to confront questions that once belonged to science fiction.

Should machines ever make moral decisions? Could technology make us less human rather than more? Who should control the systems that increasingly shape our lives? And if technology could remove suffering, ageing or even death, should we let it?

Across three weeks, students will explore these questions through the lenses of philosophy, ethics and religion, challenging assumptions about progress, identity, freedom and the future of humanity.
