Welsh Language Scheme
What is the Welsh Language Scheme?
Under Section 5 of the Welsh Language Act 1993, Bangor University, as an institution that receives public funding, was required to prepare a Welsh language scheme. The basis of each individual scheme is the principal that the Welsh and English languages are equal.
The Basic Principles
The ultimate purpose of treating Welsh and English “on a basis of equality” is to provide the public – as individuals, groups or institutions – with the right to communicate with the University, orally or in writing, in their preferred language, whether it be English or Welsh and to receive a service in that language from the University.
Canolfan Bedwyr is the point of contact for advice, and support and details of Welsh language courses for learners or improvers can be found on the Staff Development Web site.
