Bangor University has been named Welsh University of the Year and Sustainable University of the Year in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2027.
The University has also risen six places in the UK overall, climbing from 59th to 53rd out of 130 institutions, and now ranks third in Wales, behind Cardiff and Swansea universities.
These results represent a 7% increase in Bangor's overall score and build on the University's five-place rise achieved last year.
Key highlights include:
- 53rd in the UK, up six places from 2026.
- 3rd in Wales overall.
- 2nd in Wales for Research Quality.
- 3rd in Wales for Graduate Prospects and Average Entry Tariff.
- Strong improvements in Graduate Prospects and Teaching Quality.
Bangor has five subject areas ranked within the top quartile nationally, including three that are among the top 10% of institutions in the UK: Art and Design (5th out of 81 institutions), Cultural Studies (2nd out of 27 institutions, a ranking that largely reflects Welsh, Celtic and related area studies), and Radiography (3rd out of 29 institutions).
