The 2025 National Student Survey (NSS) results for Bangor University have been published, showing yet another increase in student satisfaction across a number of themes.
Overall student satisfaction at Bangor rose to 82%, moving the University up to 4th position in Wales out of eight participating Higher Education Institutions.
Satisfaction with teaching increased from 86.4% to 87%, placing Bangor 3rd in Wales, an impressive rise of three places from 6th and in the UK Bangor ranked 46th out of 124 institutions. This theme includes students' perceptions of how well teaching staff explain course content, engage them in learning, and stimulate intellectual curiosity.
Several programmes achieved 100% overall student satisfaction, including Astudiaethau Plentyndod ac Ieuenctid (Welsh-medium course), Business Management, Childhood and Youth Studies Psychology, Dental Hygiene, Electronic Engineering, English Literature, Product Design.
Top-performing programmes for teaching satisfaction include Dental Hygiene, English Literature, Product Design and Addysg Gynradd.
Yakubu Jidda, President of the Students’ Union, Undeb Bangor, said, “I’m pleased to see an increase in overall student satisfaction and in teaching satisfaction. It’s especially encouraging to see the positive response to how well the Students' Union represents students’ academic interests. Students at Bangor have recognised our progress by ranking us 22nd in the UK an impressive rise of 24 places out of 124 and 3rd in Wales. I hope we carry this upward momentum into the next academic year.”
Professor Nichola Callow, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education and Student Experience, commented, “As always, we’re incredibly grateful to every student who took part in the NSS, and to all our staff for their hard work throughout the academic year. It’s encouraging to see yet another improvement in our NSS results, building on the 10% increase in overall satisfaction we achieved in 2024. I’m pleased to see this positive trend continue, with satisfaction in teaching placing us in the top 3 in Wales and the top 50 in the UK. This is a testament to the high-quality education and student experience we provide here at Bangor University.”
