They spoke about the skills that helped them succeed - from critical thinking and multilingualism to communication and understanding of how language shapes technology. Students also heard about the growing role of AI and language technologies across different industries.

Turning your degree into employability

Alongside the panel, students took part in a reflective skills workshop designed to help them recognise the strengths they are already building through their studies. The session encouraged them connect academic learning with employability - a key step in preparing for graduate roles.

Informal networking throughout the event gave students the chance to ask questions, share ideas and hear first-hand what working life is really like after university.

An inspiring setting in the heart of Bangor

The event took place at Stiwdio North Wales, an independent creative studio founded by Bangor alumna Georgina Merckel. The relaxed and inspiring environment, reinforced the message that Bangor graduates, shaped by a supportive learning environment, go on to shape creative, professional and innovative spaces far beyond the classroom.

Looking ahead

Organised by Dr Sarah Cooper and supported by the School of Arts, Culture and Language Student Employability and Professional Development Fund, the event attracted strong engagement from both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Following its success, the School aims to develop the event into an annual opportunity, continuing to support students as they explore their future careers.
