Making Lanterns and Lucky Bracelets at Friars School!
Friars School celebrated the Chinese New Year with a series of creative and culturally enriching workshops.
Students from across the school took part in hands-on sessions where they learned about traditional Chinese crafts, including the art of making colourful friendship bracelets and decorative lanterns. The workshops were organised to coincide with the Year of the Horse and to introduce pupils to key aspects of Chinese culture and symbolism.
During the activities, the students used traditional patterns and materials to design their own bracelets, learning about the significance of colours and their association with good fortune in Chinese culture. In the lantern workshop, pupils created paper lanterns using folding and cutting techniques, before decorating them with Chinese characters and traditional motifs.
The workshops provided an engaging way for students to explore another culture while developing their creativity and practical skills.
