Chinese New Year Workshops Continue at Our Lady’s School!
As part of a vibrant programme of activities celebrating Chinese New Year, pupils at Our Lady’s School took part in another round of colourful and creative workshops on Thursday, 5 February.
Building on the Chinese New Year sessions delivered in January, these February workshops offered pupils the opportunity to explore Chinese traditions through hands-on crafts, learning, and plenty of creativity.
Pupils enjoyed a lively bracelet-making workshop, where they learned about the symbolism of colours in Chinese culture before designing and creating their own bracelets to mark the Year of the Horse. The activity encouraged creativity, focus, and curiosity, while giving pupils a meaningful cultural keepsake to take home.
Pupils also took part in a joyful red envelope workshop, learning about the tradition of hongbao and their association with good luck and new beginnings. They then decorated their own bright red envelopes, filling the classroom with colour, excitement, and smiles.
These workshops form part of a wider series of Chinese New Year celebrations at Our Lady’s School, offering pupils the opportunity to engage with Chinese culture in age-appropriate, interactive, and memorable ways. The programme has been a wonderful way to celebrate the Lunar New Year while inspiring creativity and cultural curiosity throughout the school community.
