UKRI Policy Internships scheme
The UKRI Policy Internships scheme offers UKRI‑funded doctoral students the opportunity to undertake a three‑month placement with influential policy organisations. The scheme is designed to build practical experience of translating research into policy and to develop transferable skills for a range of future career paths.
- Award:Funded placement (doctoral students normally continue to receive their existing doctoral stipend or funding during the internship).
- Duration:3 months (full‑time internship). Focus: Policy training and experience on a topic agreed between the intern and the host organisation.
- Practical considerations:
- Open only to doctoral students funded by UKRI Research Councils (AHRC, BBSRC, ESRC, EPSRC, MRC, NERC or STFC).
- During the internship, students are expected to contribute to policy activity, such as producing a briefing paper, participating in a policy inquiry, or organising a policy event.
- Students should contact their training grant administrator to confirm eligibility.
