During the visit, Rhun took a tour of the site with members of the M-SParc team and heard how the development will create new opportunities for innovation, skills, business growth and high value employment throughout North Wales.
Since opening in 2018, M-SParc has become one of Wales' leading innovation ecosystems, supporting businesses working across sectors including low carbon energy, digital technology, agritech, health and advanced manufacturing. The site is home to a growing community of businesses, researchers and entrepreneurs, with demand for space continuing to increase.
The latest development marks the next chapter in M-SParc's growth, expanding the site's capacity to support businesses looking to locate, collaborate and grow in North Wales.
“In my role as a local member, I’ve had the privilege of seeing M-SParc go from strength to strength since opening its doors in 2018, and the work that’s now underway to expand the site represents the next chapter in an exciting story for the science park.
“Creating economic hubs for local businesses to innovate, receive support, collaborate, and expand their horizons is vital, and M-Sparc is proof of the economic growth and well-paid jobs that can be derived from them.
“I’m looking forward to seeing which businesses take advantage of the opportunity to join the M-SParc family in future, and I will continue to work with my Plaid Cymru Bangor Conwy Môn colleagues to support the park’s development.”
Pryderi ap Rhisiart, Managing Director of M-SParc, said, " It was a pleasure to welcome Rhun to M-SParc and show him the progress being made on site and our ambition to develop the site further. As someone who has represented Ynys Môn for many years, he understands both the opportunities and the challenges facing the region. It was valuable to discuss how innovation, skills and business growth can help create long-term prosperity for communities across North Wales.
"The continued development of M-SParc reflects the ambition that exists here on the island and across the wider region. We're excited about what comes next.”
Since opening, M-SParc has supported the creation of more than 150 high-value careers, over 100 internships and industrial placements, and has helped attract millions of pounds of investment into North Wales.
