Module XAC-2035:
Plant, Llythrennedd a Llen

Module Facts

Run by School of Education and Human Development

20 Credits or 10 ECTS Credits

Semester 1 & 2

Organiser: Dr Fliss Kyffin

Overall aims and purpose

( To be translated) This module encourages students to analyse what literacy is in the context of children and young people’s literature. It revisits and extends theories of how children and young people develop literacy skills. It develops knowledge and understanding of how pre-school literacy skills are supported by parents and families, agencies and practitioners. It studies how literacy is developed in schools, libraries and other places of interest in the form of stories, poetry, information texts and through digital means. It provides opportunities to evaluate strategies and activities for literacy development from birth to 14 years with reference to the National Literacy Framework. The module enables the composition of a short fiction or non-fiction text for children or young people and evaluates how literature can develop personal, social, emotional and cultural attitudes and understanding.

Course content

Semester 1: Datblygu llythrennedd cynnar trwy lenyddiaeth.

Mae'r darlithoedd yn y semester cyntaf yn ystyried yr amodau sydd eu hangen i ddatblygu iaith a sut mae plant yn datblygu sgiliau iaith a llythrennedd cynnar. Byddwn yn ailedrych ar theorïau caffael iaith ac yn adeiladu ar eich astudiaethau yn y flwyddyn gyntaf yng nghyd-destun profiadau cadarnhaol sy'n hyrwyddo llythrennedd. Trafodir asiantaethau a rhaglenni sy'n cefnogi Llythrennedd Teulu a dansoddir y rhesymau cymdeithasol ac economaidd y tu ôl i ddatblygiad Llythrennedd Teulu.

Rhoddir ystyriaeth i rôl llyfrgelloedd, amgueddfeydd a lleoedd o ddiddordeb a’r ffyrdd y gallant gyfrannu at lythrennedd plant. Ceir gwybodaeth gan Lyfrgellydd Plant a Rheolwr Dysgu a Chyfranogiad mewn amgueddfa leol.

Byddwn yn edrych ar lythrennedd digidol i blant ifanc, yn enwedig defnyddio apiau a gwefannau sy'n hyrwyddo sgiliau llythrennedd cynnar.

Byddwch yn dod yn gyfarwydd ag ystod eang o lenyddiaeth a ysgrifennwyd ar gyfer plant o'u geni hyd at ddiwedd y Cyfnod Sylfaen ac yn cadw cofnod darllen sy'n dadansoddi eich canfyddiadau. Bydd yn ddefnyddiol i chi ymuno â'ch llyfrgell leol fel bod gennych fynediad am ddim at lenyddiaeth plant yn ystod y flwyddyn.

Semester 2: Datblygu uwch lythrennedd cynnar trwy lenyddiaeth.

Bydd eich dealltwriaeth o lythrennedd yn datblygu yn yr ail semester gan gynnwys plant a phobl ifanc yng Nghyfnodau Allweddol 2 a 3. Mae'r ffocws ar ddiffinio nodweddion llenyddol mewn ystod eang o lenyddiaeth i blant a phobl ifanc ac archwilio sut mae'r rhain yn cefnogi dealltwriaeth bersonol, gymdeithasol, emosiynol a diwylliannol yn ogystal â datblygu sgiliau llythrennedd. Byddwch yn ysgrifennu testun llenyddol neu an-lenyddol ar gyfer cynulleidfa darged o'ch dewis [CA2 neu CA3] a chymhwyso'ch dealltwriaeth o'r nodweddion sy'n gwneud stori, cerdd neu ddarn ffeithiol. Byddwch yn creu gweithgareddau llenyddol yn seiliedig ar y darn rydych wedi ei ysgrifennu gan gyfeirio i'r Fframwaith Llythrennedd a Rhifedd. Byddwch yn parhau i gadw cofnod o'r llenyddiaeth i blant a phobl ifanc yr ydych wedi ei darllen ac yn egluro sut maent wedi dylanwadu ar eich gwaith ysgrifennu eich hun.
