Why Study Data Science?

We see all our students as individuals and understand your strengths. Our office doors are always open, whether you want to discuss your academic work, research theories or just have a chat about life.

Anyone who chooses to study with us gets help every step of the way and will graduate with a qualification that employers love as well as memories and friends that last a lifetime.

We are a lively community with well-equipped laboratories, networked computers using industry-standard software and our own library. Our research and other interactions with industry ensure that our courses reflect recent developments. Staff are practising professionals, who work on joint projects and act as consultants to industry.

Many of our Computer Science degrees are validate by the British Computer Society which is the Chartered Institute for IT.

We hae recently installed a large networking laboratory – designed to provide the opportunity to design and administer networks and to support the delivery of computer architecture modules.

We use state-of-the-art computing laboratories, networked computers and industry standard software in all courses.

We place a strong emphasis on vocational aspects including oral and written presentations, communication skills and an appreciation of business practices.

Career Opportunities in Data Science

Our graduates are proficient in using data to derive insight using up-to-the-minute methods and algorithms. This combination allows you to exploit the new frontier of machine learning and AI, placing you in strategic roles in industry and academia.

Our Research in Data Science

Our research specialties include computer graphics, visualization, knowledge discovery, and communications. Expertise from these areas are incorporated into our teaching activities, giving students direct access to the latest Computer Science research.

Our research has performed exceptionally well, which is evidence in the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF).
