Peer Guides helping out on an University Open Day

Welcome Week: Psychology

I’d like to offer you a very warm welcome to Psychology here at Bangor. We’re absolutely delighted that you’ve chosen to join us. Whether you’re arriving straight from school or college, returning to education after some time away, or coming to us from overseas, we want you to know that you’re now part of a vibrant and supportive community.

Psychology at Bangor has a long and proud history of excellence in both teaching and research. We’re passionate about understanding the mind, brain, and behaviour, and we can’t wait to share that excitement with you. Over the coming weeks, you’ll meet your lecturers, get to know your fellow students, and begin exploring the fascinating questions at the heart of our discipline.

We understand that starting university can be both exciting and a little overwhelming, and that’s completely normal. Our staff and student mentors are here to support you every step of the way, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions or need a helping hand.

This is the beginning of an incredible journey of discovery, learning, and personal growth.

We’re so pleased you’re here, and we look forward to getting to know you over the coming months.

With very best wishes,
Prof Paul Downing
Interim Head of Psychology
