Lunchtime Visitors Try Their Hand at Chinese Knot Bracelets!
This week’s instalment of the Discover Chinese Culture – Free Lunchtime Workshops introduced attendees to the intricate world of Chinese knotting. The session attracted a steady stream of curious visitors, many eager to experience something new during their midday break.
Tutors from the Bangor University Confucius Institute began by sharing the history and symbolism behind traditional Chinese knots, long associated with prosperity, connection, and well-wishing. Participants then had the opportunity to practise essential knotting techniques using vibrant threads, gradually shaping their own handcrafted bracelets.
The workshop space soon became a lively blend of concentration and conversation, with attendees enjoying the unexpected challenge of weaving precise patterns. By the end of the session, each participant left with a unique bracelet and a deeper appreciation of this enduring craft.
The enthusiasm shown at this event continues to highlight the growing interest in hands-on cultural activities. The Confucius Institute looks forward to offering more creative opportunities as the lunchtime workshop series continues.
