    One-on-one supervision tutorials, as determined by the progress of the individual student, to include guidance on identifying and planning an appropriate research topic, investigation and applying relevant theoretical concepts, planning and conducting fieldwork and data collection (where relevant) and presenting the results coherently and in the appropriate format.

    Ceir ymdriniaeth drylwyr o faes hawliau ieithyddol yn ystod y modiwl hon. Mae'n cynnwys ymdrin â'r ddadl ynghylch hawliau ieithyddol a gosod yr hawliau hyn o fewn fframwaith polisi hanesyddol y maes ac yn ogystal o fewn cyd-destun ehangach hawliau lleiafrifol. Mae'r modiwl yn pwyso a mesur hawliau'r unigolyn a hawliau grwp a'r damcaniaethau allweddol sydd ynghlwm wrthynt. Bydd y modiwl hefyd yn cynnwys trafodaeth ynglyn â sicrhau hawliau ieithyddol mewn perthynas â'r iaith Gymraeg yng Nghymru, ac yn ogystal, yn tynnu ar ddatblygiadau ar lefel Ewropeaidd yn y maes.
  • CXC-4016: Hanes y Gymraeg (20) (Semester 2)
    Bydd tair rhan i’r cwrs: Rhan I Yn y rhan gyntaf edrychir ar hanes cynnar y Gymraeg gan roi sylw penodol i’r materion a ganlyn: 1. Y Celtiaid a’r Ieithoedd Celtaidd; 2. Y Frythoneg a’r Gymraeg; 3. Ffynonellau cynharaf yr iaith. Rhan II Yn yr ail ran archwilir cyd-destun diwylliannol, economaidd a gwleidyddol hanes yr iaith hyd at y 19g., gan roi sylw penodol i’r materion a ganlyn: 1. Y Gymraeg hyd 1536 2. Y Tuduriaid: achubwyr yr iaith? 3. Y Gymraeg a’r Chwyldro Diwydiannol. Rhan III Yn y drydedd ran cynigir arolwg o’r berthynas rhwng cyweiriau llafar a llenyddol yr iaith, gan roi sylw penodol i’r materion a ganlyn: 1. Tafodieithoedd y Gymraeg; 2. memrwn, argraffwasg ac orgraff: datblygiad yr iaith lenyddol; 3. John Morris-Jones a ‘safoni’ iaith.
  • SXS-4064: Nationalism and Minorities (20) (Semester 1)
    The course will be divided into two parts. The first part will examine the general theoretical arguments and approaches concerning nationalism, ethnicity, minority rights and multiculturalism. The second part will be devoted to specific types and examples of cultural diversity focusing on minority nationalisms, linguistic minorities, post-immigrant minorities, indigenous peoples, as well as their relations with majorities. Individual weekly lecture topics will be drawn from the following: Part A: Theoretical arguments • Analytical concepts: nation, culture, indigenous people, ethnic group • Minorities and the state, concepts of plural and multicultural societies • Theories of minority rights: Kymlicka et al • Multiculturalism and the politics of recognition • Tensions between human rights and respect for cultural difference • Groupist and essentialist fallacies Part B: Empirical examples • Self-determination and nations without states • Indigenous peoples, land and modernity • The politics of minority languages • Ethnic and nationalist conflict • Majorities as minorities
  • NHS-4226: Work based learning (20) (Semester 1 + 2)
    Introduction to work-based learning Preparing a journal of evidence Preparing a project proposal The content and supporting literature will be determined by the work based learning activity selected by the student and his/her manager, and expertise within the School will be utilised accordingly. The remaining content will be adapted to the work based learning activity identified by the student and may include some or all of the following: • Facilitating Practice Development: • Project management – including time and resource management • Change management – including negotiation and communication skills • Clinical governance - Clinical effectiveness • Decision making process and models • Approaches to quality, including continuous quality improvement , tools and techniques. • Health Care Management and Modernisation • Research awareness – methodology and evaluation • Presentation skills

    Topics will change from year to year and may include: 1. Bilingual social interaction 2. Bilingual first language acquisition 3. Second language acquisition 4. Multilingualism 5. Issues of identity 6. The bilingual brain.
