International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF) Institutional Support Grant
The ISPF is aimed first and foremost at addressing global sustainable development challenges to transform the lives of the maximum number of people. The fund aims to foster prosperity by solving shared global research and innovation challenges. This will be done through working closely with international partners to:
support research excellence and build the knowledge and technology of tomorrow
strengthen ties with international partners that share our values
enable researchers and innovators to cultivate connections, follow their curiosity and pioneer transformations internationally, for the good of the planet
Scope and use of the funds
This funding provides flexible grants to support doctoral research that is delivering economic or social impact in countries on the OECD DAC list. All spend must be Official Development Assistance (ODA) compliant1 with the primary purpose of targeting the economic development and welfare of approved ODA recipient countries as defined by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
Projects funded by the ISPF Institutional Support Grant cannot be used to deliver activities within, in partnership with, or that otherwise benefit China.
Projects must be completed by 31 March 2026. Spend and progress towards the intended outcomes will be monitored by IRIS throughout 2025 – 2026 and we reserve the right to reallocate funding as appropriate.

Projects
Proposals should build on your doctoral research to accelerate impacts or generate new related research and impact initiatives. Proposals to build capacity and capability in the partner DAC nations are also eligible. All projects must deliver tangible benefits in the partner DAC countries.
