We have a fantastic session planned next week with our honorary professor Bianca Ambrose-Oji PLUS Dr Louise Hill from Defra and Katie Rafferty from the Tree Council joining us online.
The session will explore the concept and potential role of community tree nurseries in sustainable forestry nationally and internationally - including challenges faced, species selection, nursery design, climate resilience and biosecurity. Defra will offer a policy maker perspective, whilst the Tree Council will offer a real-world delivery perspective.
Bianca Ambrose-Oji is a chief scientist at Forest Research (FR). Prior to this she was Head of their Society and Environment Research Group, where she delivered a portfolio of research projects focusing on land manager behaviours, forest governance, policy co-design, community involvement in forestry, public attitudes to trees and urban trees and greenspace planning and co-led FR’s Woodland Creation research programme. Some of you will remember her as a former colleague in the department where she was previously a researcher and lecturer.
Dr Louise Hill is the Lead Advisor on Adaption, Tree Health and Plant Evidence & Analysis at Defra
Katie Rafferty is the National Schools Programme Manager at the Tree Council
