Mindfulness in the parenting context
Our aim is to develop evidence-based mindfulness interventions suitable for a wide range of parents. We are interested in development and evaluation of parenting programmes, which can be integrated with existing interventions in the education system thus offering a comprehensive range of support to support children and families.
Current Research Projects
- Pilot research project evaluating effectiveness of a mindfulness-based parenting programme for foster carers (Betsi Cadwaladwr University Health Board (BCUHB) funded project starting in October 2012)
- Development and implementation of a pilot mindfulness-based well-being programme for parents with multiple stressors in a poorly served area (CMRP project began 2009).
- Collaboration with School of Psychology on a PhD project investigating a Mindfulness-based parenting course for parents of children with autistic spectrum disorder (started Jan 2012)
- Outreach events (for example workshops, conferences) to develop links with local stake holders (e.g. health promotion teams, Families First, schools)
