Bangor University LGBTQ+ Network shortlisted for national award
Bangor University’s LGBTQ+ Network for staff and students has been proudly shortlisted for the Outstanding LGBTQIA+ Network Group category at the Rainbow Honours Awards 2026, recognising the group’s ongoing commitment to building an inclusive, supportive community on campus.
The Rainbow Honours Awards celebrate individuals, organisations, and community groups across the UK that have made significant contributions to advancing LGBTQIA+ inclusion and equality. Being shortlisted places the University’s network alongside some of the most impactful LGBTQIA+ initiatives in the country.
Over the past years, the LGBTQ+ Network has delivered a wide range of activities aimed at fostering belonging, visibility, and support for LGBTQIA+ staff and students. From community-building events to advocacy work that informs institutional policy and practice, the network has played a vital role in strengthening the University’s inclusive culture.
The winners of the Rainbow Honours Awards 2026 will be announced later this year. Regardless of the outcome, the shortlist highlights the growing impact of the University’s LGBTQ+ community and its ongoing work to ensure that everyone can feel respected, valued, and able to be their authentic selves.
Congratulations to everyone involved in the LGBTQ+ Network on this well-deserved recognition.
