Chinese Proficiency Tests, HSK/HSKK/YCT
The Confucius Institute at Bangor University is one of the recognised HSK test centres in the UK and we can help you to study towards your most suitable level.
Online Test
To meet student need, CLEC HSK Test Headquarters have decided to launch the Online Chinese test (Home Edition), to help students complete HSK exams at home, with remote monitoring from the test centre.
Examination details
Please familiarise with the requirements of the online test here
To take HSK3-6 exams (Home edition), the exam takers should take equivalent HSKK (Oral Test) at the same time. When the exam takers register with HSK+HSKK at the same time, the exam fee is kept at the original price, in other words, the exam fee doesn't increase by 30%. This rule only applies to HSK 3-6. The price for HSK1-2 keeps the same.
HSK3+HSKK Basic
HSK4+HSKK Intermediate
HSK5/6+HSKK Advance
For the Home Edition exam, an online mock test will take place a week before the final test, so the exam takers are familiar with the test procedure. There will be no marks awarded for the mock test.
The next HSK exam dates are:
11 March, 2023 (Registration deadline is 22 February)
20 May, 2023 (Registration deadline is 3 May)

Paper Based Exam
Confucius Institute at Bangor University is an official test centre for the Chinese Proficiency Tests.
We are delighted that we are running paper-based edition HSK exams again!
Bangor University no longer requires a COVID test for entry, but it is encouraged to self-test to ensure safety, especially if you feel unwell on the day.
If the COVID situation changes and cases rise sharply nationwide, we reserve the right to cancel the exam and put you in the next available exam.
Examination details
You will need to bring your HSK test admission ticket and photographic ID (passport, Car driver’s licence etc.) with you when you come to sit for the HSK test. You will also need pencils and an eraser for the test. No dictionaries or other written materials are allowed in the examination room. Please note that on some dates, the Test centre runs different exam types. On some of the exam dates, you would be able to book written and/or oral tests, whilst on others, you can only book a written test. Please see the below table for more information regarding the exam type for each date.
Please note that to take the Paper-based edition of HSK 3-6 exams, the candidates can book and take HSK and HSKK exams separately, not at the same time as required for the Home edition of the test.
