Overall aims and purpose

Mae Modiwl yma yn opsiwn Cymraeg o'r modiwl Evolution and Genetics (BNS2002) Bydd y modiwl fel y fersiwn Saesneg, ond bydd 'na gyfle i neud rhywfaint o'r gwaith yn Gymraeg. (seminarau ychwanegol, gwaith ymarferol ac ysgrifennu). Mae fersiwn Cymraeg yn newydd (2019/20), a bydd pethau yn cael eu datblygu dros amser. Mae bwriad o greu'r modiwl yma ydy darparu modiwl Cymraeg sydd yn orfodol i bob cwrs bioleg. Mae dewis y modiwl Cymraeg yn orfodol i'r rhai sydd yn derbyn bwrsari Cymraeg neu ysgoloriaeth Cymraeg. Os dach chi ddim yn derbyn ysgoloriaeth Cymraeg, does dim rhaid i chi neud unrhyw waith ysgrifennu yn Gymraeg. . Yn y bôn, mae'n gyfle i chi gael mwy o amser am drafodaeth a chymorth a chyfle i ddefnyddio sgiliau dwyieithog. Mae pob manylion yr un peth ar y fersiwn Saesneg ar hyn o bryd. . .

Course content

Fel y fersiwn Saesneg

Learning outcomes

  1. Be able to explain how contemporary bioinformatic tools can be used to delimit species and to investigate intraspecific variation from an evolutionary perspective.

  2. Have a clear understanding of the principles of evolution by natural selection and some basic theories in population genetics, as well as an appreciation of current debates in evolutionary theory and the role of embryonic development in morphological change.

  3. Be able to integrate knowledge acquired from different sources, and to apply a problem-solving approach when presented with a hypothetical scenario.

  4. Appreciate the various types of genetic marker, the technology involved in their use, and their potential utility in population and ecological genetics, taxonomy, disease and evolution.
