CaBan at Bangor
Education in Wales is entering an exhilarating new era, both in developing a world class curriculum for schools and within teacher education. In response to a call from the Welsh Government, Bangor University, with its longstanding and excellent reputation for teacher training and education, partnered with University of Chester and Lead and Network Schools in north Wales and now offer a suite of high quality teacher education programmes accredited by the Education Workforce Council in Wales. In these innovative programmes ‘CaBan’ partners are all working together to educate highly capable, ethical and ambitious teachers of the future.
We are seeking to nurture teachers into the profession who are passionate about the development of children so those in their care become ambitious, capable learners, who will emerge as enterprising creative contributors: eager to learn throughout their lives; ready to play a full part in life and work; ready to become valued members of society who are healthy, confident individuals with a sense of fulfilment, and ready to be ethical informed citizens of Wales and the world. (Welsh Government/Professor Donaldson, 2015).
CaBan’s teacher education courses will provide a high quality experience across a network of different and challenging learning environments including urban and rural, mainstream and special schools and outdoor education settings. The cultural identity of Wales and strengths in bilingualism are key aspects of CaBan’s unique partnership, with Welsh, a living and growing language. The programmes will prepare teachers to be fully equipped to deliver the new Curriculum for Wales. CaBan Website.
