The North Wales School of Education conducts internationally excellent research based around strategic areas of expertise. We collaborate closely with Welsh Government, third-sector organisations, local councils, schools and parent groups to deliver research with real impact on policy and practice.

Research in the North Wales School of Education involves a variety of research specialisms within key areas of educational research:

Language and education: Welsh-medium education, bilingual education, language and literacy,
Skills and subjects: literacy, numeracy, science, geography, outdoor, literary and expressive arts education,
Ages and stages: early years education, post-compulsory education, vocational education and training, HE teaching and learning, professional learning,
Issues in education: pupil motivation, Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Additional Learning Needs (ALN), school effectiveness, and mentoring.
