Assessment

The Postgraduate Certificate in Education is a professional qualification. A system of continuous assessment is employed. Students must satisfy their assessors in practical teaching. There are coursework assignments that have to be completed but there are no written examinations. To be awarded Qualified Teacher Status trainee teachers must demonstrate that they have achieved the statutory standards specified in the ‘Qualified Teacher Status Standards Wales 2009’ (2009 No.25) and its supplementary guidelines.
