Stephen Clear wins SLS poster prize

Congratulations to lecturer Stephen Clear, who has been announced as joint winner of the Society of Legal Scholars’ poster prize.

Stephen presented his poster, entitled ‘Judging Public Procurement Disputes: The Necessity of Commercial Judicial Review?’ at SLS’s 105th Annual Conference, held at Nottingham University between 9th and 12th September.

Over 30 posters were presented by research students, lecturers and practitioners, with a panel of judges from the SLS Executive Committee questioning each entrant on their research. Amongst the judging panel was Professor Stephen Bailey, who is President of the Society of Legal Scholars, a Professor of Public Law, and Dean of Nottingham Law School.

The entrants were judged on originality, contribution to scholarship, presentation, clarity and style, and the presenters’ ability to answer questions about their work. Stephen, who shares first prize with a member of staff from Birmingham Law School, was commended for the depth of his research work and the visual impact of his poster.

The Society of Legal Scholars was founded in 1908 and is the learned society for those who teach law in a university or similar institution, or who are otherwise engaged in legal scholarship. As of the beginning of 2013, the SLS had over 2,900 members consisting of academic and practising lawyers in a wide variety of subject areas.
