Wedi Canslo: 'Artistic Research into Modern Languages and Cultures

Canslo Digwyddiad: Mae'n ddrwg gennym ddweud bod y digwyddiad yma wedi'i ohirio. Ymddiheurwn am unrhyw anghyfleustra a siom y gallai hyn ei achosi ond mae'r Brifysgol wedi penderfynu gohirio nifer o ddigwyddiadau a chynadleddau. Rydym yn monitro'r sefyllfa mewn perthynas â'r pandemig Coronafirws (Covid-19) yn ofalus, a'n blaenoriaeth yn ystod y cyfnod anodd hwn yw lles myfyrwyr, staff, ymwelwyr a'r gymuned leol.

How can the arts and artistic methods transform research, teaching and learning in Modern Languages and Cultures (MLC)? How can creative practices contribute to understanding languages, translation or to understanding cultures, and generate knowledge that might otherwise remain hidden? More and more artists and scholars are looking into these questions today. However, only few have so far tried to implement theories and practices of artistic research into their teaching and research.

Our conference “Artistic Research in Modern Languages & Cultures” held at Bangor University from 16–17 April aims to change this, and we hope to initiate nothing short of an overall disciplinary renewal. The conference will bring together international researchers, practitioners and artists from a range of language backgrounds. We invite all participants to share their insights into and their experiences with the transformative power of creative practices in MLC in unconventional formats: through performances, installations, exhibitions and participatory workshops.

The conference is open to all, and we particularly invite everyone to join us for a live performance of “Home.Run” by Hartmut El Kurdi in the Pontio Studio on April 16th @ 7:30pm. The performance is free of charge for conference attendees and will be followed by a short Q&A session. In case you only wish to join us for the performance, please purchase your £5 ticket directly through the Pontio website.'
