A long tradition of academic excellence
Established in 1884, Bangor University has a long tradition of academic excellence that continues to this day. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, 77% of the research undertaken by Bangor University was rated in the top two tiers of research quality, ahead of the average for all UK universities.
In the 2017 TEF (Teaching Excellence Framework), Bangor University was awarded the Gold standard for consistently delivering outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for its students. Bangor was the only university in Wales to achieve this standard.

Staff research papers and articles are published regularly in leading journals and their books published to a worldwide audience. In recent years, staff have conducted high level consultancy work including major policy studies for many leading organisations like the European Commission, the World Bank and the UK Treasury. All of this has contributed to the School has being ranked as one of the top 50 in the world for Banking research (RePEc, as of January 2019).

By partnering universities worldwide and engaging with business, industry and external organisations, Bangor Business School offers a cutting-edge dimension to academic disciplines, enhancing the academic environment for both staff and students. We emphasise our subject links with the real world, with case studies, topical issues, field work and practical relevance characteristic of our degrees.
Some of our modules and programmes are accredited or recognised by relevant professional bodies. Professional accreditation or recognition is a ‘seal of approval’ which demonstrates that the module/programme is considered by the professional body to have real career value. Graduates of these modules/programmes may be eligible for exemptions from specific modules of certain professional qualifications; be able to gain credits that can be put towards certain professional qualifications; or be able to graduate with a dual award – a qualification from the professional body alongside their Bangor University degree.
