Professional Recognition and Accreditations

Some of our modules and programmes are accredited or recognised by relevant professional bodies. This means that Bangor Business School graduates may:

  • be eligible for exemptions from specific modules of certain professional qualifications;
  • gain credits that can be put towards certain professional qualifications; or
  • graduate with a dual award – a qualification from the professional body alongside their Bangor University degree.

Benefits of professional recognition or accreditations

Professional accreditation or recognition is a ‘seal of approval’ which demonstrates that the module/programme is considered by the professional body to have real career value.

Studying an accredited or professionally recognised module/programme will demonstrate to prospective employers that you have a studied a contemporary, commercially-relevant curriculum that can be applied in the workplace.

Undergraduate Degrees

Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

Depending on your scheme of study, you could be entitled to claim exemptions from up to eight papers of the ACCA Qualification..

Chartered Insurance Institute (CII)

Graduates of the following programmes will be eligible for exemptions on the CII’s Insurance and Financial Services qualification routes:

Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)

Depending on your scheme of study, you could be entitled to claim exemptions for up to eight of CIMA’s professional examinations.

Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM)

Graduates of BA/BSc Marketing will be eligible for exemptions from some modules of the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s professional qualifications:

Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA)

Graduates of BA/BSc Accounting and Finance can claim exemptions from parts of CIPFA’s Professional Certificate and Professional Diploma.

CPA Australia

The following undergraduate programmes are accredited by CPA Australia:

  • BSc Accounting & Banking
  • BSc Banking & Finance
  • BSc Accounting & Economics
  • BSc Accounting & Finance
  • BSc Management with Accounting

Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales (ICAEW)

Bangor Business School is recognised as a Partner in Learning with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Through studying one of our undergraduate programmes, you may be entitled to claim credits towards up to eight ICAEW subjects.

Postgraduate Degrees

Chartered Banker Institute

Bangor Business School is proud to be a Chartered Banker Institute ‘Centre of Excellence’. Graduates of our CBI-accredited MA/MSc Banking & Finance (Chartered Banker) will gain the dual award of a Bangor University MA/MSc and the Chartered Banker Diploma – the highest award available in the banking world.

For busy professionals, we also deliver the blended-learning MBA Chartered Banker (delivered through the Management Centre) through which graduates will attain the dual award of a Bangor University MBA and coveted ‘Chartered Banker’ status.

Chartered Insurance Institute (CII)

Graduates who have successfully completed module ASB 4425 – Investment Strategy and Portfolio Management – will be eligible for 60 non-unit specific credits at Advanced Diploma level in the CII Financial Services qualification framework. This module is offered on the following programmes:

  • MBA Finance (compulsory module)
  • MSc Finance (compulsory module)
  • MSc International Finance (compulsory module)
  • MSc Investment Management (compulsory module)
  • LLM Law and Banking (optional module)

  • MSc Accounting and Finance (optional module)

Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM)

Graduates of MA Business and Marketing and MBA International Marketing will be eligible for exemptions from some modules of the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s professional qualifications:

Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI)

Our partnership agreement with the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment means that graduates of the MSc Islamic Banking and Finance will be eligible to take CISI’s Level 3 Certificate in Islamic Finance, without the need for additional tuition.

Students on the MBA Environmental Management who successfully complete the compulsory module in ‘Strategic Environmental Management’ will receive IEMA’s Associate Certificate in Environmental Management and become Associate Members of IEMA.
