FAQs Yoyo Wallet

How do I get Yoyo Wallet?

Download Yoyo Wallet for Android, or Yoyo Wallet for iOS.

Where can I use Yoyo?

You can use Yoyo at any ‘Eat Drink Bangor’ outlet

  • Bar Uno, Ffriddoedd Village
  • Siop Ffriddoedd, Ffriddoedd Village
  • Teras Lounge, Main Arts Building
  • Teras Café, Main Arts Building
  • Copa, Pontio level 5
  • Cegin, Pontio level 2,
  • Ffynnon, Pontio level 0
  • Barlows, St Mary’s Village

How do I pay using Yoyo?

You can pay using Yoyo in two ways – Pay at till or Order Ahead.

Pay at till
Step 1: Link your debit or credit card to the app, this will generate your personal QR payment code
Step 2: Visit one of Eat Drink Bangor’s outlets for some tasty treats
Step 3: Head to the till – Tap the central ‘Wallet’ button to pull up your QR code and when prompted by the cashier, scan your QR code on the scanner
Step 4: You’ve paid & earned yourself some loyalty points.

Order Ahead
Step 1: Link your debit or credit card to the app
Step 2: In the app tap the order ahead button (look for the clock symbol)
Step 3: Choose the outlet you’d like to order from and create an order
Step 4: Follow the on-screen instructions to finish your order and pay
Step 5: You’re all done, and just like when paying at the till you will have earned some loyalty points.

How secure is Yoyo?

Yoyo never store your payment details on your phone, in fact they do not send any card information as part of the transaction. Yoyo has developed an ultra-secure tokenisation system that generates a single use QR code that constantly changes even when you're offline (making it more secure than card payments).
 QR codes have several benefits:

  • The tokens (QR codes) change every 30 seconds, even if you're not using them, this ensures they cannot be reused outside of the app.
  • QR codes refresh even without connectivity.
  • Consumers can make purchases without mobile connectivity.

Should you misplace your phone, Yoyo has even added passcode or fingerprint entry to the app (If your device supports fingerprint authentication and/or face ID, those options will automatically be presented to you once you have a set a passcode.) To set a passcode, please select “Passcode” in the settings menu and follow the provided instructions there.

Are there any hidden costs when paying with Yoyo?

Yoyo is (and will always be) completely free to use – there are no transaction fees nor any hidden fees to worry about. In fact, you save money by having access to the latest catering offers via the Yoyo app.

Upon linking a card to your account, you might notice a very small pre-authorisation charge on your bank statement (£0.02). This charge is taken by our payment provider to test that the card is able to make payments but never actually leaves your account and is released within 5 business days after the charge is made.

I’ve earnt points, what can I spend them on?

If you tap on your points it should pull up all the vouchers available. Each voucher will display how many points you need to purchase them. You can also access the vouchers by scrolling down to ‘Spend Your Points’.

How do I collect loyalty stamps?

You automatically collect loyalty stamps on your virtual stamp card via the app, when you make qualifying purchases. You can see which stamp cards are available by clicking on the ‘Stamps’ icon in the app.

I’ve got a Promo code how do I claim it?

Tap the ‘Settings’ option in the app, then tap the ‘Add a Promo Code’ option. You will then be able to find a voucher so you can claim the promotion.

Where are my rewards?

When you complete a stamp card on your app, you will receive a Yoyo Voucher, also if you earn enough points, you can purchase a voucher with your points. Once you have vouchers you can access them by taping the ‘Vouchers’ option at the top of the screen, or you can scroll right to the bottom of page, and they should be displayed here.

I’ve earnt my points and purchased a voucher, how do I claim it?

Download Yoyo Wallet for Android, or Yoyo Wallet for iOS.

Currently you can’t claim vouchers through the Order Ahead function, so once you’ve got a voucher, you’ll need to come into the relevant outlet to claim it. You’ll be required to scan the QR code linked to the specific voucher (just tap the voucher to pull it up or ask a staff member for help). Make sure you read the Ts and Cs so you know in which outlet you can claim it.

Do vouchers expire?

Yes, all vouchers have an expiry date, which is displayed on your voucher directly.

Some vouchers will have longer expiry date (such as stamp card vouchers or points rewards) others will have a shorter expiry date, especially vouchers earned during promotional offers and campaigns.
Make sure you redeem your voucher before the expiry date!

What kind of debit / credit cards can I link to my Yoyo account?

You can link any debit or credit card from Visa, Mastercard or American Express.

Can I track my spending?

Yes. Once the payment is authorised, you’ll be issued with an in-app receipt. You can access these by tapping the ‘Activity’ option.

Can I track my spending?

Yes - you can link up to four different payment cards to your app. Just go into your settings and tap ‘Payment Methods’.

What happens to my account and loyalty if I reinstall or delete the app?

Your loyalty and app information are linked to your account, not your phone or your app. This means that if you need to reinstall your app, or change your device, all you need to do is log back into the same account you have been using with your credentials (email address and password).

When you log back into your account, you will find all your rewards and app information.

What happens to my account when I get a new phone?

Don’t worry, any loyalty you earn is linked to your account rather than your device. Simply log into your account from your new device, making sure to use the email address you initially used to create your account.

Once this is done, you can change the phone number associated to your account in “Manage My Account” within the settings menu.

How can I contact Yoyo?

There are more FAQs on the Yoyo website or if you have any queries, you can contact Team Yoyo at support@yoyowallet.com
