Bangor Law and Business students return to Brussels

Undergraduate and postgraduate students from both Schools united for the two-day trip to Brussels, during which they visited the European Commission, the Committee of the Regions, the Economic and Social Committee, the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers.

Led by Brian Jones, Lecturer in Strategic Management and Public Administration at the Business School and Evelyne Schmid, Lecturer in International and European Law at the Law School, the trip was intended to provide students with a better understanding of the roles of the various institutions of the European Union and how they interact with key institutions and domestic law in the UK. The Bangor delegates were fortunate enough to meet a number of figures from various institutions, including Jo Vandercappellen from the European Commission, who delivered a presentation on ‘Introduction to EU Institutions’; Claire Smith, Directorate-General for Competition at the European Commission; John Fordham of the European Parliament; and Lars Eric Svensson from the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.
