Choral Music from the Czech Republic
Bangor University Chamber Choir
Conductor: Guto Pryderi Puw
Accompanist: Elina Shchohla

This concert will take you on a vivid exploration of some notable choral music by Czech composers, arguably the most well-known being the romantic composer Antonin Dvořák with In Nature’s Realm Op.63 (V přírodě). The early settings of 5 Gesänge für Gemischten Chor Op.7 and Winterlied by Agnes Tyrell are firmly rooted in the German romantic tradition, while the styles of both Bohuslav Martinů and Petr Eben draws upon folk music and traditional idioms. There will also be a premiere of Puw’s Vocalise #2, inspired by his recent visit to Prague.
