The Welsh Language
The Welsh language is an integral part of Bangor University and we are very proud to be one of the most bilingual Universities in the world.
Welsh is very much a language for everyone at Bangor. From fluent speakers to those who are learning a few words and phrases or just enjoying hearing and seeing a different language to their own, we all benefit from this rich linguistic and cultural community.
Here's a video providing some brief history of the Welsh Language, especially the use of the language within the education system in Wales over the years. Hopefully, this video will help you understand why we're so proud to be the principal provider of higher education through Welsh and help you understand the bilingual community we have here at Bangor.

Socialising in Welsh
UMCB (the University's Welsh Students Union) offers students a host of opportunities to socialise in Welsh, including supporting those who are learning Welsh. If you're learning Welsh yourself you might be particularly interested in their 'Ffrind Cymraeg' (Welsh Friend) project, but you're very welcome to join any of these societies.
