Legal Services

The University’s legal services are provided by Eversheds Sutherland who are an international law firm. The agreement with Eversheds Sutherland covers all the legal advice the University requires, both in the UK and overseas, including on HR and immigration issues, commercial, corporate and IP matters, student and regulatory, governance and constitutional, litigation, and estates matters.

Eversheds Sutherland also offer training and a range of free, added value, services to the University.
The agreement is overseen by Gwenan Hine, Head of Governance and Compliance, and in order to monitor the use of legal services, and the costs to the University, access to this legal advice is managed through the Governance and Compliance Office.

This allows the University to consider advice previously received, to consider whether the matter can be dealt with internally or to liaise with Eversheds Sutherland, as appropriate. If the matter is complex conference calls or meetings can also be arranged, following discussion with the Head of Governance and Compliance.

If a member of University staff requires legal advice, or further information about the nature of the services offered please contact Lynne Hughes (l.hughes@bangor.ac.uk ext. 2776) in the first instance to outline requirements.
