Qualifications

  • MSc: Master of Public Health (MPH)
    Manchester University, 2008
  • PhD: Risk and Rationalisation in Paradise: Cognisant Exposure to Sexually Transmitted Infections amongst Heterosexual Male Sex Tourists to Thailand
    Lancaster University,

Teaching and Supervision

I currently lead the Professional Doctorate in Public Health, as well as teach across a number of undergraduate and postgraduate modules.

I supervise several postgraduate students with research interests in a broad range of global health topics.

Research Interests

I have research interests in a variety of global health topics, particularly the role of social and cultural settings on health behaviours where voluntary risk-taking plays a part in negative health outcome. Currently, this involves exploring socio-cultural drivers of HIV transmission where knowledge and risk behaviours are at odds.

Postgraduate Project Opportunities

I am willing to supervise a PhD

  • What supplements do scientists use, and why?

We wanted to know which supplements are worth our attention (and money) so we asked six scientists – experts in everything from public health to exercise physiology – to name a supplement they take each day and why they take it. Here is what they said.
